A TV series, a documentary, tours, a Las Vegas resident – Wu-tang clan has undoubtedly been busy for the past eight years. One thing is missing? A new LP. But the group’s long -standing friend, Wu Affiliate and Show DJ Mathematics, has complained the entire clan for a whole new project, as he did with their 2017 album, “The Saga Forts. “
Due to April, Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Cappadonna, U-Good, Masta Killa, Inspectah Deck, Gza and of course RZA adjusted and dropped the verses for “Black Samson, The Bastard Swordsman from The, Wu-Tang, Sagan continues The collection. “Just as the original” saga continues “, the project is produced entirely by mathematics and is labeled as a joint effort with him and the acclaimed collective.
“You can be sure of good body work,” Raekwon tells different of the new album. “Mathematics is a top level producer that makes music with his soul attached.”
As for the title, “Well, the album has a certain sense of it,” says Math, who also designed the world famous Wu-Tang Clan logo. “It’s a tribute to Blax Ploitation movies. You have movies like “Black Samson”, “Black Caesar” and “Super Fly.” It is the kind of films I grew up in the 1970s. “The Bastard swordsman” part of (the title), is an Ode to the old karat girls because that’s what I also grew up on. With me as well as the whole WU-Tang, it was something we had in common. We loved all the old karate girls. “Bastard swordsman” is one of my favorites. “
Mathematics, native of Southside Jamaica Queens (he notes that the WU logo was designed while sitting in an apartment in one of the most notorious housing development, the 40 projects), began jing for GZA in 1990, when he was still known as “The Genius . ” About that time the clan began to start in 1993, mathematics became the official DJ for the whole group and has held that position ever since. Around mid -1995, math began to learn to produce and has had traces over the years on various WU groups and solo LPs. He has also published a handful of his own projects since 2003.
While RZA, WU’s founder and traditional principal producer, has worked with films and his own solo project (one of which is “a ballet through the clay”, a 2024 lp classical music that he composed and played by Colorado Symphony), Math took the initiative to gather the clan again for “Black Samson.”
Mathematics describes completing the project as a “long and boring” process, but rewarding anyway.
“It’s my brothers, when I need them, I call them,” he says. “All praise is due, they show up. I am grateful for that. It definitely takes time. We have done housing and tours, so sitting down and locking in is a little difficult. But we are so much around each other, when we get into the studio, it makes it easier and vibe is better. “

“Claudine” named after the romantic comedy from 1974 with Diahann Carroll 1974, James Earl Jones and Lawrence Hilton Jacob, has Method Man, Ghostface Killah and Singer Nicole Bus. Meth reappears at “Mandingo” together with Raekwon, Inspectah Deck and Cappadonna.
“When I heard the rhymes from my brothers on” Mandingo, “Math will say, I wrote three different rhymes to that track to make sure I could sit in my pocket and that I was up to par with my brothers,” said deck about the post. “We test all of each other’s swords. Wu and Math have hired the entertainment and media company Macroverse, which specializes in designing and printing series as well as vinyl cover. There will be 5,000 two LP vinyl edition of the project which was issued on April 12 to coincide with Record Store Day. Macroverse will use printing technology through their sub-company Mixprint to make each Black Samson … Album jacket into a unique 1-of-1-cover design.
