In the transition we never knew we needed, Timothée Chalamet and Kendrick Lamar Linked in front of the rapper’s Super Bowl half -time performance to discuss their creative approach.
In a three-minute, black and white clip that was broadcast on NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football” on Friday, the Oscar-nominated actor and Grammy-winning rapper drove around in a GNX-for what more-and became real about embracing failure and the importance of being vulnerable in art. On Sunday, Lamar will perform at half time while Kansas City Chiefs meets the Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans.
Lamar started Konvo by asking the Chalamet about his preparation process and how he bends his actors between the projects. “The thing about actors is that if you don’t have an audience, it’s just a form of madness. And you’re just, what are you doing?” Said the Chalam. “So I definitely try to warm up and then, you know, losing it self -consciousness when you finally come back there. But it takes time. ”
He added, “I always try to embrace failure – you talked about it the other day – the most important part of a bad day is how you leave it. If you can leave a bad time or a bad day with a positive attitude, you have nothing to fear. ”
For his part, Lamar said that he “is always locked up and always tries new things”, even if they don’t stop going anywhere. “I have to keep the pen in motion. That’s my form of reason, he said. “And it has also given me the opportunity to teach myself, you know, find out who I am.”
Lamar continued that in writing you have “to sit and go through the emotions and be vulnerable with it.” He added, “Many of these records I write, man, a lot of things that I probably would never have expressed or even known to myself if it wasn’t for an instrumental behind it.”
In a serious moment, the chalamet said to Lamar, “Just being a fan of your music forever and knowing, looking where you are now, man. It’s just crazy, Super Bowl half -time show. And you just keep climbing, bridge. It’s like, fantastic. ”
The Chalamet, which is currently looking for an Oscar to play Bob Dylan in “A Complete Unknown”, has long been an avid rap and sports fan. He has previously said that rapper Kid Cudi inspired him to become an artist, and the two eventually met and became friends. The Chalamet has also dabbed the genre a bit himself, with videos of him who rapes an original song for mathematics called “Statistics” and performs as Nicki Minaj in a talent show in high school. When it comes to sports, he is a lifelong New York Knicks fan and surprised viewers last year when he showed up on ESPN’s “College Game Day” as a guest selector and properly predicts that Ohio University would upset against Miami University in the MAC championship.
