The Recording Academy has invited more than 3,800 members actively working in the music industry to join the Academy as part of the 2025 new membership class, expanding the pool of qualified voters ahead of the 2026 Grammy Awards on February 1.
Notably, invitations were also extended to all Latin Recording Academy voting members for the first time in history. Aiming to build a more globally representative voting body, Monday’s announcement revealed that the accepted class is made up of 50% people 39 and under, 58% people of color and 35% women.
“Today marks the start of an exciting week — not only are we welcoming this year’s incredible new class of Academy members, but we’re just days away from revealing the 2026 Grammy Awards nominees,” said Harvey Mason Jr., CEO of the Recording Academy. The nominations will be announced on November 7 at 11 a.m. ET during a live stream event on live.GRAMMY.com and YouTube.
Mason continued, “This year’s class reflects the vitality of today’s diverse music landscape. The addition of many voting members of the Latin Recording Academy underscores that music has no boundaries and that our mission to serve music people, no matter where they come from, is stronger than ever. I can’t wait for the passion and hard work of our members to shine through in this year’s nominations.”
Recording Academy membership consists of voice membership for recording creators and professional membership for music entrepreneurs. All members have the opportunity to participate in the organization’s year-round initiatives, drive meaningful progress in diversity, equality and inclusion through the DREAM initiative, advocate for creators at the federal and state levels, engage in programming with the producer and engineer wing and songwriters and composers, mentor the next generation of music industry talent through pe Grammy U, Academy and cities.
Voting members – made up of artists, songwriters, producers and engineers active in the music industry – are eligible to vote, which ultimately determines Grammy nominees and winners.
