Dear readers and fans of Mark Wahlbergthe 2024 movie schedule is about to see even more of that actor’s charm on screen. Earlier we saw first trailer for The Union drop Wahlberg in an action rom-com; and now in the Mel Gibson-directed thriller Flight riskhe takes quite a different turn on screen.
Not only does his character have a ridiculous southern accent, but there’s a really wild twist that changes everything this movie gives us. So of course I have to watch this movie as soon as possible.
Lionsgate released the first trailer for the Jared Rosenberg-penned film, which comes from a screenplay that was honored by the 2020 Black List. That attention seems to have paid off, as Flight risk looks like a pot-boiler with enclosed spaces, with only three characters.
The plot is simple: a powerful witness/criminal (Topher Grace) is transported to testify by an Air Marshall (Michelle Dockery); and the man who gets it done is their good old boy pilot (Mark Wahlberg). For now, it’s the default Mr. Wahlberg’s shirtless gym photosright?
Well, like Flight risk trailer reveals, Mark Wahlberg’s ridiculous accent and his baseball cap have something in common: they’re hiding something. Surprise: Wahlberg’s character isn’t quite Southern, he’s a hit man tasked with taking out Topher Grace, and he’s missing very of hair.
Although to be fair, this is what his character should look like, according to the lore:
To put all the cards on the table, that’s exactly why I’m kind of eager to see Flight risk right now. Mark Wahlberg’s character has a rather unique look with the bald middle, and it’s a choice that most actors wouldn’t make. But what makes me even more excited is the fact that, unless I’m remembering things wrong, this is Wahlberg’s first villainous role in a while.
Anyone who is a fan of best 90s movies know where I’m going with this as one of Mark’s breakout roles was as an obsessed boyfriend in the film Fear. It looks like we will to Mark Wahlberg in Flight riskalbeit a little more toned down. For those who don’t know this movie, you have to watch the trailer for that movie to understand where I’m going:
To bring it all home, I’m going to pitch you all on what Flight risk looks like to me. It’s undefeated Mark Wahlberg versus a fiercely powerful Michelle Dockery, with Topher Grace hanging in the balance. And it all takes place on a small plane. I mean, what else do you need, except maybe a strategy on how to win over King Arthur’s overwhelming fan base on a dogless, fearless Wahlberg?
Well, a release date might help. Flight risk ramping up for excitement, only in theaters, starting October 18. In the meantime, Mark Wahlberg fans can watch him fight the good fight with Halle Berry in The Unionwhich will debut on August 16 for everyone Netflix subscription holder.
