Taylor Sheridan to write Paramount’s “Call of Duty” movie


Looks like Taylor Sheridan is not done with Paramount yet. Despite news that came over the weekend Sheridan would soon move on and move his TV and film deal to NBCUniversalhe will first tackle what is slated to be a major tentpole hit for the studio.

Sheridan will write the live-action feature adaptation film based on “Call of Duty” war video game franchise, Paramount announced Thursday. Peter Bergthe director of films such as “Lone Survivor,” “Patriot’s Day” and “Deepwater Horizon” and creator of “Friday Night Lights,” will direct the film. Berg and Sheridan have previously also collaborated on their Oscar-nominated “Hell or High Water” and “Wind River.”

Sheridan, Berg and Sheridan’s frequent collaborator David Glasser will all produce the film. Paramount announced the “Call of Duty” movie was in the works early last month and is developing it with game maker Activision.

One of the most successful video game franchises of all time, “Call of Duty” is the best-selling video game franchise in the United States for 16 consecutive years and has sold over 500 million copies worldwide in its many iterations.
