Before we start into this Gramm 2025 Edition of guys and surprises, let’s answer a question that can come up immediately: how can we characterize the Beyoncé -winning album of the year as a “surprise” when we predicted it repeatedly, as many other forecasters did? There is a simple answer for it: Although we rightly called it, we were very, very, very nervous about it. We can relax now. At least one thing has been corrected in this chaotic world, so let’s take a deep breath and take the “surprise” that the actual perceived justice is made while we can get it. Now, ahead!
NEGLECT: Taylor Swift and Billie Earth get closed. Are there two more popular and beloved pop stars in the world right now? There is not. And that is why the recording of academic voters will sleep sound tonight – and assume that both Taylor and Billie get a good night’s sleep as well – knowing that it was ok to let these fields go wrong this year and let someone else get love, After all previous winnings, they have raised. Still, it is a somewhat sharp reality to know that none of these Grammy-looked superstars even got a victory further down beyond the top three. We did Picture Eilish gets either song of the year and Popsolo performance for the still-convenient “birds of a feather.” But the fact that the whole world is buzzing when we speak will probably be enough to keep her warm at night, just like the biggest tour of all time is probably enough reward for Swift in a year. (Now maybe they can come back as nominal sub -dogs next year.)
Surprise: Beyoncé does what we expected to do … which no one could be certain To expect her to do. As mentioned above, we had a case of nerves that went into this year’s announcement: Yes, we called it, but did we not call “lemonade” on the day too? You can be sure that regardless of anxiety we felt, it was 1000 times as much for the Recording Academy, which would have a lot of “Splainin” to do. And could there be someone more tired on Monday morning Grammy-plain ‘than Harvey Mason Jr.-What must be the happiest guy in the world from 20:45 pt Sunday evening? There was reason to believe that things might not go so during the premiere ceremony before Telecast, when Beyoncé only won a Grammy of several she was on. In the end, when the climatic album for the annual segment approached, she had raised Country Album of the Year earlier at TeleCast … which all began to worry about was a consolation prize in the air for missing something bigger. That fear was unjustified, and although Bey Hardy swept the board-collected only three awards, out of 11 nominations this year, she wrapped up the one who really counted, in her, Jay-Z and about a billion fans.
Surprise: Kendrick Lamar wins both records and This year’s song, two barren lands for hip hop. They nominees for these two categories usually overlap mostly … and often, voters who are torn between challengers will see it as a way to spread love, go for one of their favorites in one division and another in the other. So even though we exactly predicted “not like us” winning record for the year, we thought 13,000 members of Recording Academy (A phrase that we heard so often during the night) would make a split there and give Eilish and Finneas Song for “Birds of a Feather.” There were other forecasters who even saw Eilish get both, given her earlier Grammy dominance. Also argumentation against a Lamar sweep of all his categories was the WAN number of previous hip-hop winners in the best categories. Just once before, a rap recording has won for the year (Childish Gambinos “This is America”), so we had to decide: we look at Grammy’s increasingly diverse voter rolls … or we look at precedents, where we the older guard has Almost always tipped things towards the most musically conservative choice, in a pinch? It really would have been a scandal if Eilish had won any of these … but she is also happy that Kendrick got them.
SURPRISE: Sabrina carpenter Sprints past the narrow Diva field to claim pop albums. Almost everyone who seriously predicted these awards saw this go to Eilish or maybe Chappell Roan. If you were to choose one of this moment’s big pop divors for a suspension, you may have chosen Carpenter, who is very cherished for his new place in pop firmament but may have seen as a little too foamy for some seriously -minded Academy members. As it turns out, Grammy voters love the kind of good blink that carpenters deliver as much as anyone, or at least enough to drive her beyond the competition here. You could also see it as a win for the large number of hits that she delivered: “Espresso” was on the way for the year, while “Please please please” were nominated for this year’s song, and voters may have had one or the other of those they loved A little more … but voting for “short” n sweet “as an album was effective a way to vote for both. And also, with the Roan that won BNA, to say: We like you, we really like you, alike Much like your label friend.
Stuck: Chappell Roan gets the award that everyone most wanted and predicted, best new artist … but come on, nothing else? Let’s call it a moderate guy on the most, so the best new artist is chopped liver. And since the Roan got it, we can skip the bag and ash on her behalf. But wasn’t it a place for someone who would look like this brilliant anywhere else? You can love what the Roan has done for queer representation in mainstream -pop, or you can only love to be so directly talented singer, songwriter and pop conceptualist as someone who comes with for years. Either way, you have to love her, more than recording academic voters apparently did – this should only have been a bigger year for someone who crushes, even in a crowded field. Being anointed as a Grammy -Posch girl can of course be seen an albatross, so maybe get an embrace from the academy that is not so too hug Will be good for the roan and her independent minded followers.
Surprise: Sierra Ferrell receives the second highest number of awards at night, with four. Roots Community has taken to Ferrell that no one has come up for several years, so it was not really a total surprise to see her gather every award she was with, given the support from lovers of people, Americana and country. And she has really taken up a lot of affection and discovery from people who normally do not listen to string band music, thanks to a co -examinations from admiring superstars like Zach Bryan and Post Malone. But realizing that the number of wins she received was higher than someone except the five collected by Lamar is still a happy shock, for those of us who have thumped the bathtub for her for a few years.
Surprise: Chris Brown and Dave Chappelle really can’t do anything to turn off the loss of Grammy Love. Anyone who believes that interrupting the culture prevails in the entertainment industry can only look at the ongoing record of profits of some very controversial figures that are not loved among progressive to know that this can be a wrong one. It is not really a great shock to see Chappelle continue to be a Grammy favorite, but it is still at least a mild surprise to see Brown continue to be on top, after all the heat he has taken over the years. Here are two guys who, when it comes to academia, will never have to make a redemption tour.
SURPRISE: Dei and Trans Rights take up some very necessary victories, if only within the artist’s advocates. Of course, none of these were on the Grammy vote itself. But in an evening where it seemed as if everyone might have played nicely about the country’s drastic social and political divisions to find a certain unit over fire relief, there were at least a couple of artists who were not afraid to go there. “Dei”, in particular, has become such a bogeyman -term – moved to the kingdom “woke” – to hear Alicia keys that boldly say “Dei is not a threat, it is a gift” known as a greater shock than any price result .
