Ryan Gosling is in talks to star in a new “Star Wars” filmthis one from the director Shawn Levyaccording to multiple media reports, represents one of the first major developments in the feature film plans for the “Star Wars” brand.
Levy’s project has been in development for years, with others added to the overall slate, but with Gosling potentially in the galaxy far, far away, it’s likely that this would be the next feature to go.
Lucas film and representatives for Gosling did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
For this one, Jonathan Tropper is writing the script, reuniting with Levy and his 21 Laps production banner after working together on “This Is Where I Leave You” and “The Adam Project.” But it’s unclear what era of the “Star Wars” timeline this movie is set in, who he would play, or any other details. However, Levy’s film is reportedly intended to be separate from the Skywalker Saga of stories, which would potentially involve the return of Daisy Ridley as Rey.
The next “Star Wars” feature on the horizon, the first since 2019’s “The Rise of Skywalker,” would be “The Mandalorian & Grogu,” the spinoff of the popular Disney+ series starring Pedro Pascal. Other projects in development include one from James Mangold, another from Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, and a new trilogy from Simon Kinberg.
