With her new orchestral single “Berghain”, Rosalía signals a bold new direction for her fourth studio album, “Lux“, estimated November 7.
In contrast to her Grammy-winning album “Motomami”, her upcoming fourth studio LP is said to feature Rosalía singing in 13 different languages and is divided into four movements; the physical versions of the LP will contain 18 tracks while the digital versions will contain 15.
Features include Björk, Spanish singer Silvia Pérez Cruz, Portuguese singer Carminho, Flamenco singer Estrella Morente, Mexican music Singer-songwriter Yahrit and Yves Tumor. Boys Choir School of Montserrat and Choir Palau Palau of Catalan Music are also listed as collaborators.
Rosalía sat down for her first in-depth interview since the release of “Berghain” at The New York Times “Pop cast” podcast, where she opened up about recording “Lux” while filming the upcoming season of HBO’s “Euphoria.”
“Everything I do is because I’m a fan,” she said of her choice of roles. “So you might be thinking, ‘Oh, (‘Euphoria‘) is a pop moment or whatever.’ For me, it’s like, ‘Oh, this is a new environment. This is a new thing. How can I do this and still be a good artist?’ Because being an artist on stage is very different from being an artist acting in something similar to — putting myself at the service of (‘Euphoria’ creator) Sam (Levinson’s) vision.”
Rosalía says that Levinson was “one of the first people I wanted to play the album for”, adding that he “reacted in the most beautiful way … he was in tears, and that meant so much because I admire his vision so much.” Alexa Demie, who portrays Maddy in “Euphoria,” also heard the album and “had the same reaction.”
“And I thought, ‘Okay, this might mean I’m on the right track,'” Rosalía remembers thinking. “This could mean we might be doing what we’re supposed to be doing.”
Elsewhere in their conversation, Rosalía confirmed that she was filming her scenes for “Euphoria” while translating, rewriting and composing lyrics for her ambitious new record. Calling both efforts a “challenge,” he nearly broke down several times throughout the process.
“This is a lot and I was almost about to have a mental breakdown, or just a breakdown… but I was like, okay, ‘Rosalieif anyone can do it, it’s you.’ I (would) repeat it to myself – ‘If anyone can do it, it’s you. Go on, go on, go on. And then I just figured it out and didn’t forget the lines very often – thank goodness.”
Not much is known about “Euphoria” Season 3, except that it will be released in the spring of 2026 and features many returning actors and new faces, such as Trisha Paytas, Natasha Lyonne, Danielle Deadwyler and Eli Roth.
