The annual Just like the sky festival in Pasadena will feature a set by the newly reunited Say Kiley — the band’s first show since 2008 — with the group joining Vampire weekend as co-headliners for the May 10th SoCal reunion.
Rilo Kiley last performed together in a headlining show at LA’s Greek Theater on June 18, 2008, according to setlists.fm. During the intervening eight years, Jenny Lewis has had a successful solo career; she will be joined on Just Like Heaven – and other tour dates to follow – by bandmates Blake Sennett, Pierre De Reeder and Jason Boesel.
Tickets for Just Like Heaven, which takes place on the grounds adjacent to the Rose Bowl, go on sale Friday at 11 a.m. PT. https://www.justlikeheavenfest.com/. GA passes start at $175, VIP passes start at $399 and the clubhouse rate is $649, all before fees.
In deference to the recent fire disasters in the area, Goldenvoice is offering verified first responders two free passes each to the festival.
Others in the lineup include Slowdive, Empire of the Sun, Bloc Party, TV on the Radio, The Drums, Courtney Barnett, Toro y Moi, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Grouplove, Perfume Genius, the Sounds, Panda Bear, Beach Fossils and Peter Björn and John.
A 30-second teaser video of the band members cuddling around was posted on the group’s YouTube page, accompanied by text that changes a familiar song to read “Sometimes when you’re on, you’re really fucking on tour.” Tour dates to accompany the festival debut have not yet been announced.
The quartet issued a collective statement, saying: “We are so excited to be back together for Just Like Heaven in Pasadena, California – Los Angeles. As a band, we started here, and we feel so lucky to return among so many artists and friends, to this community that we hold so dear, in such a beautiful and meaningful place.”
