Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music on New York University‘S Tisch School of the Arts welcomes back alumni David Biral (’15) and Denzel Baptiste (’14) -The Grammy-nominated production duo Take a day -For the institute’s first homecoming artist’s residence ever.
Biral and Baptiste first met as a beginner at the institute, where they formed takes a day strip that aims to “see the world through music.” During the years ago, they have collaborated on hits with Lil Nas X, Juice Wrld, Kid Cudi, Jack Harlow, Travis Scott, Dua Lipa, Miley Cyrus, James Blake and others. Their No. 1 singles include Travis Scott and Kid Cudis “The Scotts” and Lil nas xs “Montero (call me by your name)” and “industry baby.”).
In addition to the studio, Take A Daytrip launched its publishing company, No Idle, in collaboration with Universal Music Publishing Group 2022. They have also collaborated with Apple to create take a dayrip producer package for garage bands and Logic Pro.
Their NYU residence will include the student’s listening and feedback sessions, a production master class, a basic conversation with special guests and a live performance in the garage, the institute’s internal Brooklyn place.
They join a tradition of institute housing previously held by Pharrell Williams, Swizz Beatz, Julie Greenwald, Kareem Riggins, Dawn Richard, Corinne Bailey Rae and Joey Bada $$.
Biral said: “It is such an honor to come back to the place where it all started for us. Our creativity, our sense of the business, our ambition, everything was promoted on Clive and we could not be happier to come back and share what we have learned with the next generation CDI students.”
Baptiste added, “In the past year, we have really taken one back to the basics of our creative process, revive our love for creation above all and find out how we should generate business around the music that inspires us the most. It feels super poetically for us to come back to Clive right now, the place we met and started our dream to travel the world from the music.” “
