“Maria” -Kinematographer Ed Lachman has won the Top Feature movie Award at the American Society of Cinematograph’s’ ASC Awards, which took place on Sunday evening in Los Angeles.
The film, which maps the last week of Opera Diva Maria Callas’ Life, is one of the five nominees in the Oscar’s best category category and won over other Oscar -nominated “The Brutalist”, “Conclave”, “Nosferatu” and “Wicked,” “Like” Dune: Part Two “and” A Completely Unknown. “
During the 38 years that ASC has published an award for film film Cinematography, its winners have won Oscar for best cinematography a little less than half the time, with the two voting organs that agree 18 times and do not agree with 20 times. Recently, however, ASC and Oscars have gone to the same movie more often, with four matches over the past five years.
Jomo Fray won the Spotlight Award, which goes to smaller and often more adventurous films, for his viewpoint movie on “Nickel Boys.” The documentary award went to Michael Dweck and Gregory Kershaw for “Gaucho Gaucho.”
Television Awards went to Robert Elswit for “Ripley” in the limited or the anthology series or the TV movie category, Sam McCurdy for “Crimson Sky” episode of “Shōgun” for an hour series and Richard Rutkowski for “Sugar” for half an hour series. The Music Video award won by Pepe Avila del Pino for the video “313” from Residente, Sílvia Pérez Cruz and Penélope Cruz.
Ed Helms hosted the ceremony, which took place at Beverly Hilton Hotel and also included honorary awards for Kathleen Kennedy (Board of Governor’s Award), Andrzej Bartkowiak (Lifetime Achievement Award), Michael Goi (Career Prize in TV ATT Documentary Award), John Simmons (ASC Presidents Award) and Pete Romano (Curtis Clark AC Award).
