Kanye West Have never had trouble being sincere. The rapper’s willingness to provoke, which was often bound in a conversation about mental health, catapulted him to the top of pop culture and later beat him from the top.
Anti-Semitism, Misogyny, Anti-LGBTQ rhetoric and his constant aeration of the family’s dirty laundry have been tormenting the Grammy winner for almost a decade, parallel to his flirt with Maga and Christian Salvation. What kind of defense deserves West (aka ye)? What can his perspective offer now?
“In whose name?”, A new documentary with a variety of unfiltered images in Yes’s endless attempts, has some clues. More than that, it gives fascinating insight into one of the wildest declines in entertainment history.
Here is what we learned from the project, directed by Longtime West Collaborator Nico Ballesteros.
Medication and “freedom”
Ballesteros Film plays as a Whac-A-mol journey through YE’s problems, as of 2018. However, the project’s narrative touch stone is YE’s commitment to living without medication for the bipolar disorder he has previously revealed. The film opens on the west and his daughter North, then a child, when she explains her understanding of sleep. “Do you know if you fall asleep, you won’t even go?” says Toten. “I have to stay awake,” he replies. This is the frame through which you see his mental fighters – a consistent driving force for “freedom”, defined by West as a life without medication.
Although they are well documented on their own social media over the past seven years, West’s mental health match reads differently when edited to a feature film. His crusade plays more urgent and less randomly when you see his obsession with his worried business partners in art and companies – as shoemaker adidas and music labels Sony and Universal – crawl into every moment in his life.
Director Ballesteros pursues most of the tropes found in documentaries out a desire for objectivity, he says Amount.
“It was important to create an observation documentary and embrace Cinéma Vérité, not to make a participating document-no talk heads, no interviews. I even knew as an 18-year-old. I wanted to create something pure observation. I look at it as a rorschach test for society, as a mirror.”
The “SNL” section
Those who tracked West’s spiral into the MAGA fold-completed with “White Lives Matter” -t-shirts and strategy sessions with Candace Owens-will surely remember his heading-Grabbing “Saturday Night Live“Appearance. Two years after Trump first won the Presidency, you showed up to 30 rock that wears a Maga hat and used the tail end of the show to rant about” mind control “and his new political adjustments.” SNL “Cut his speech, but Doc really reveals chaotic behind the scenes.
Former role members Leslie Jones and Jay Pharoah are stone face when they ask West what is outside the boundaries of potential sketches with the rapper.
“I have no boundaries outside. I am literally in current slavery and is like it is like my own people should not release my mind,” West tells the comedians. “The mother fucks that own the stadions, go back to those surnames. They owned the ointment. We only more expensive now. Even if we work at NBC.”
West then goes on to say that it cost him $ 80 million to buy back his record catalog from his music labels, nothing like music legend Prince “couldn’t afford it. He has no shoes.”
Michael who Has a windy confrontation with YE, who previously on stage – in a reference to the “Weekend Update” anchor – criticized NBC for having “black comedians out here and made jokes about Bill Cosby.” Che comes directly in West’s face and asked why he said such a “bad shit” when the role admired and welcomed him as a family. West Demurs. Lindsay Shookus, a long -term talent Wrangler and producer for “SNL”, immediately tries to appeal to Ballesteros behind the camera and say “Can’t you do it, please? Can’t you record it? It would be horrible for us.”
Perhaps the most shocking and sykopantic is a look by Chris Rock in Yes’s dressing room after the change. Rock is similar to West with Sinéad O’Connor, who in a “SNL” look in 1992 tore up a photo of Pope John Paul II to protest the sexual abuse in the Catholic Church. “No one knows anything,” Rock West tells and embraces him.
Kim’s suffering
West has fought Kim Kardashian, his ex-wife and co-parent of four children, on social media and in family law for several years. “In whose name?” Could have reinforced the image he painted by her as a controlling shill. The opposite is true. In her strong objectivity, the movie Kardashian makes suffering tangible as her partner changes in front of her eyes (see an exclusive clip of a tense interaction between the couple at the top of this post). Tears come quickly and often, as we see on a visit 2018 in Uganda. A hard rage from you aimed at Kardashian and his cousin Kim Wallace leave her dumb truck.
“Your personality was not like this a few years ago. It was very long and get in between,” says Kardashian. “It wasn’t daily, in every single conversation.” Insiders who are familiar with West’s thinking say he is remorseful about much of the film’s content but did not want to disturb the final product.
Kardashian refused to comment on this story. Her famous family is also drawn into Ye’s Tailspin. After West captures the heat for a White House in 2018, he returns to Los Angeles and says he feels “emasculated in this house by my wife and Kris Jenner.”
In another high decibel screaming, West fits, West Jenner, Kim’s mother, asks, if she feels partly responsible for the mental division and hospital stay that preceded his Trump chat. “Yes, I say yes,” Jenner tells him through his own tears, next to partner and reality -TV star Corey Gamble “and I love you. I don’t want you not to be perfect, and I want my daughter to love you as you want her to love you.”

The names
Considering Wests once Icon status, “In whose name?” is full of celebrities and remarkable artistic, political and cultural figures. Archive films from his golden era include interactions with Beyoncé and Jay-Z, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Lebron James, Anna Wintour, David Letterman, Naomi Campbell, Drake and Pharrell.
Later, around 2019, we see West sitting for a strategy session with Pundit Candace Owens and the sentenced Charlie Kirk.
“I have to show an example of a non-Perfect black celebrity that is still winning,” West tells Owens and Kirk. “For, if you’re a celebrity and you’re black and you’re perfect? You’re a housekeeper.”
“You are a glorified slave,” Owens agrees, when Kirk echoes that West seems to be “The Help” in the construction that the rapper establishes.
Owens then assures west that “culture will always be upstream from politics. Anyone who can control culture can control politics. You carry a magazed? It broke the internet.”
