Football is in Brianna PintoDNA. Her parents were both NCAA Division I student athletes, her father mastered football and her mother distinguished herself in softball. When Pinto saw his older brother embrace football at a young age, it felt natural for her to follow in his clothing -clad footsteps. “I fell in love with the sport from the first day,” she says, noting that she was the “only girl at a boy” in Rainbow Soccer League in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Today she continues to break obstacles in the sport she so deeply loves and becomes the first academy player to play for NC -Mod. And during her decorated collegiate career at the University of North Carolina, she was named the US Football’s Young Female Player of the Year, a 2x All-American and 2021 Mac Hermann Trophy finalist. “This sport has stretched me in so many different ways,” she shares. “It has taught me to devote my energy to something so much bigger than myself.”

For Pinto, it looks like creating opportunities for young black girls who are still sadly underrepresented in the sport. In November she will go with other players from Black women’s players collective To host Next Wave National Showcase, the first National Showcase ever by top -ranked black women football players in the United States a partnership with Allstate and Star starThe beloved football community platform that grows black football culture, this event aims to create ways to collegial and professional level for the top performing black female football players from high schools across the country. “Not only will they receive high quality coaching in the field, but they will also complete education programming outside the field as career planning sessions, college-prepsessions and nutritional/mental health sessions,” says Pinto.

When she does not mentor the next generation of athletes or plays herself, Pinto is about growing new experiences with her family and friends. “I love to try new restaurants and go on new adventures as I travel,” she reveals and adds that reading and playing basketball, tennis and Pickleball are high on her list of hobbies. However, her biggest priority is her faith. “It helps me remain humble and grateful, but also hopeful and inspired,” she says. “I do everything in life for God’s glory because it is such a gift to be healthy, to have a wonderful family and to do what I love for a living.”
