Yokota looks for durability, softness, seat quality and seat depth when shopping for sun loungers. “Quality foam and a high-performance fabric are important,” she says. “Our armchairs get much more use in our rooms than our wooden or more straight-backed chairs.” She recommends looking for an armchair with a seat depth of about 18-22 inches and fabrics like heavy linen that she says will get better with age. She personally prefers a sun lounger “that has enough room to tuck my legs up under me.”
