The roots take back the annual roots picnic To Philadelphia, PA with an assortment that includes D’Angelo, Lenny Kravitz, Meek Mill, Glorilla and more.
The event, which is scheduled to take place at Philly’s The Mann in Fairmount Park on May 31 and June 1, will see d’Angelo make its great return to the stage together with Roots. Last time the R&B singer publicly performed was under Netflix is a joke comedy festival at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl 2022.
Additional artists for Roots Picnic 2025 include Tems, Jeezy, Kaytranada, Pusha T, 2 Chainz, Musiq Soulchild, Kur, Elmiene, Backyard Band with Cee Lo Green, Jagged Edge, Cece Peniston, Crystal Waters, Laila Bank! More artists will be announced in the coming weeks.
Several musicians will celebrate milestones for their respective albums at the festival. Jeezy will honor the 20th anniversary of “Let’s get it: thug motivation 101”, while Musiq Soulchild will celebrate the 25th anniversary of his debut album, “Aijuswanasing.” The roots will also celebrate the 30th anniversary for “Do you want more? !!!”
In addition to the main stage, Roots Picnic will include day parties including Trap Karaoke, Chill Vibes with DJ Active, Doo-Wop..dat R&B party and Dear Summer Festival. Rich Medina, Funk Flex and Diamond Kuts are expected to emerge. J. Period will also host his living mixtape with Black Thought, Pusha T and 2 Chainz.
Last year’s events presented performances From André 3000, Jill Scott, Babyface, Shaboozey, Gunna and More. It also contained a tribute to New Orleans from Lil Wayne together with PJ Morton, The Roots, Trombone Shorty and Lloyd.
