In a speech to the audience, SCL president Ashley Irwin explained that prices celebrated not only the artistry and performance in its society, but also its remarkable spirit of resilience and hope for difficulties. He went on to forward a cordial message that acknowledged the severity of the latest challenges, especially the devastating fires that ravaged Los Angeles and deeply affected the closely composed SCL community. “When we celebrate the commitment and creativity of our colleagues and lyricists, we also reflect on the greater context of difficulties and loss that surrounds us. The disastrous fires have left an indelible mark on our city, its inhabitants and our society. Yet, in these adversities, we find strength and we find inspiration, ”said Irwin. “This year’s SCL awards are not only a celebration of personal performance, but also of resilience, hope and the collective strength that binds us together for adversity.”
