Justin Vernon’s band Good zeal returns with a new album.
The record – “Sable, Fable” – will be released on April 11 via Jagjaguwar. It follows the critically acclaimed three-song EP “Sable”, which was released in October.
The first single “Everything is Peaceful Love” will arrive this Friday, which happens to be Valentine’s Day. John WilsonMastermind in the brilliant HBO series “How to with John Wilson”, directed a music video for the single, which will also sink on Friday.
The album’s background was explained in a wonderful Bon Iver-Coded press release:
“Made by Justin Vernon and Jim-E Stack,” Sable, Fable “was mainly recorded at Vernon’s April Base in Wisconsin, after years as the studio spent to put dormant during a renovation. The conceptual emergence for the album occurred on 2.22.22, then stack arrived at the base with Danielle Haim. Snowed for several days, Vernon and Haim’s voices intertwined “If I could just wait”, a duet with a decisive perspective, about not having the strength to be the best version of yourself outside the glow of new Love.
“If” Sable “, was the prologue,” Fable “is the book – but together is” Sable, Fable “the album, and for that reason there is no fairy tale. There may be something undeniably healing about love, and intense clarity, focus, Honesty and celebration it gives to these songs. “Everything is peaceful love” is the portrait of a man overwhelmed by happiness when he meets the one he will fall in love with. But the shadow of ‘Sable’, still looms, and old feelings can return , even after one has put in the work to restore and start fresh.
