Lauren Daigle Step on Caesar’s SuperDome field on Sunday’s Super Bowl In New Orleans to sing “America The Beautiful.” The former Louisiana State University student performed with colleague Louisian, Thrombone cards (aka troy Andrews) and a couple of instrumentalists.
Daigle and Shorty’s reproduction were true to New Orleans and chose a lively brass band instead of the hymn’s demand for strings.
In an interview with Nola.com In front of the Super Bowl, Daigle said that Trombone Shorty asked Daigle if she could go with him for the show, and saw that the couple had previously collaborated for Daigles 2024 music video for “These Are The Days”, and she showed up on his album “Lifted.”
As 33 years, Daigle is a twice Grammy winner and contemporary Christian music singer known to have the blurred lines between spiritual lyric and pop music. Songs including “Trust in you” and “Keep with me” are Staples of Christian Radio, and claim four top 40 albums with her highest mapping LP as 2018’s “Look Up Child.”
Originally from Lakes Charles, Louisiana, Daigle rose to fame with her album, “How it be”, which claimed a No. 1 place on Billboard’s best Christian album chart 2015. Her latest, full length and original is a self-titled set was released in 2023 as Included the top song, “Thank you good in Do.” But in recent months, Daigle has also shared a live album called “Sessions” consisting of recordings caught at SiriusXM.
Daigle and Trombone Shorty’s inclusion are part of an authentic New Orleans-based range for this year’s game between Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs, with other Louisiana native Jon Batiste and Ledisi also on Lineupen.
