John Legend, Irving Azoff, Ka Cenat honored at BMAC 2025 Gala


Black Music Action Coalition held its fifth Annual BMAC Gala in Los Angeles on September 18 Honor John LegendIrving Azoff and Kai Cenat, after the latest announcement of $ 500,000 who undertook those affected by the Altadena fires earlier this year.

The event, which was arranged at Beverly Hilton, hosted Mickey Guyton, who started the evening with a reproduction of “Black Like Me.” The Earth, Wind & Fire was at hand to perform “Just Groove” and “September to honor for Azoff, who received the BMAC Award.

Surprising presenters included Babyface, which gave the legend BMAC Quincy Jones Humanitarian Award; Ceelo Green, who honored primary wave music with BMAC 360 award; Aminia Diop for Cenat and Apple & Apple Music for BMAC Social Impact Award; Kamilah Forbes, who gave Sherrese Clarke and Harbourview Equity Partners initial BMAC Harry Belafonte Change Agent; And Nicole Avant, who presented to Azoff.

When he accepted his award, Legend said to the audience: “Use your voice, use your platform, use your influence to severely protect those who are brave, to protect the truth that is faced with retaliation, to make room for more of us because the fight is as urgent as it has ever been. Excellence is beautiful, it is important, but freedom is important.”

Willie “Prophet” Stiggers, BMAC’s CEO/co -founder/president, reflected the non -profit growth over the past five years. “Tonight when we honor those who have used their platforms to drive real social change, let’s acknowledge this truth – that BMAC is no longer just an organization. In fact, the movement that is anchored in responsibility and action, an unmatched belief that the future of music must be as good and as free and as powerful as the music itself.”
