Mandopop heavyweight Sylt Hsiao has colored a large deal with Sony Music Entertainment.
The partnership represents a first for Sony music that unites its activities over China, Hong Kong and Taiwan in a coordinated tri-market strategy to support a single artist. The collaboration aims to strengthen HSiao’s global reach under the umbrella in Sony’s major China and Mandarin region.
HSIAO, which debuted in 2007, has built a reputation as one of Mandopop’s most versatile artists and served Moniker “King of Mandopop.” The Golden Melody Award winner is known for his powerful songs over several genres including rock, ballads and jazz. His chart-top hits “A Love Song for You” and “Princess” has helped to establish him as a big move, with sold out tours throughout Asia and then.
During the New Deal, HSIAO will immediately start working on a new album while planning a large concert tour that extends over Asia and international markets. Sony Music will exploit its global network to conduct collaborations between industries and expand the artist’s reach to new territories.
“This is not just a new chapter. It’s a new beginning,” HSIAO said. “Collaborating with Sony Music is a chance to drive my sound longer and share the power of Mandopop with the world. I am ready to create music that hits hard and joins everyone.”
“Jam is a global force in Mandopop. His incredible energy and influence breaks through the borders, and we are pleased to welcome him to Sony Music,” said Andrew Chan, CEO of Sony Music Entertainment Greater China and Mandarin Region, and added that the company would provide extensive support from production through global marketing.
