But in the spirit of Father Cooper, we have two very sincere questions. One: Can you sip on these new drinks without gagging? And two: Do they actually work?
From a nutritional point of view, the unhealthy ingredients seem to check out. Dietician Sarah Glinski, RD, approves of The electrolytes (which includes 490 mg of sodium, 60 mg of magnesium and 190 mg potassium). She even appreciates the added Protein increase. But there are still some important considerations to think about, especially for athletes and those with kidney disease or high blood pressure. Discomfort protein beverages
These new drinks claim to deliver 10 grams of high quality clear protein for only 60 calories, which Glinski sees as a big plus. “Although 10 grams of protein per bottle is not a huge amount (I usually recommend people choose protein supplements with at least 20 grams of protein per serving), it can give a protein increase in a comfortable and tasty format,” she says.
Research also shows The whey protein – the type used in Unwell – can help with muscle growth and muscle strength. While 10 grams of protein is not extremely significant, it is also worth noting that this drink can contribute to Your daily protein intakeWhich can be advantageous for anyone who is struggling to hit their goals. Ingredients such as potassium and magnesium also support muscle and nerve function, says Glinski.
Finally, Unwell protein contains a relatively high amount of sodium, at 490 mg. This is good for athletes, or someone who is breastfeeding a hangover, says Glinski. Just be careful if you don’t already lose a lot of salt through sweat, as Most of the USA Already consumes much more than the recommended 2,300 mg sodium per day.
What to think about about unpleasant protein drink
It can be tempting to suffice for discomfort every time you have a hangover or tough workout class, and it definitely Can give a particular call. . . in moderation. But drinking too much can be problematic. “The most important red flags for this drink mostly refer to people with kidney disease or high blood pressure,” says Glinski. Those with kidney disease often need to reduce their protein intake to relieve the load on the kidneys, and those with high blood pressure may need to look at sodium intake.
“This drink contains about 20 percent of the maximum daily recommended intake for sodium,” Glinski explains. “Sodium draws water in the blood, which increases the pressure on the blood vessel walls. Consistently high sodium intake can lead to chronically increased blood pressure.” If you lose several bottles of unpleasant protein a day, you can easily surpass this sodium threshold.
It is also important to note that unpleasant protein is good for recovery, but with only two grams of sugar it is not exactly a sports drink. “I usually prefer to see sports drinks contain a source of fast -acting carbohydrates, such as glucose, to provide fast energy during longer exercise,” says Glinski. “If a person plans to use this for hydration in a sports environment, I would recommend to include an additional source of fast -acting carbohydrates, especially if they exercise longer than an hour.”
Owell protein drink flavor
We have established nutritional enclosures and outs – but how does uneven hydration with protein actually taste? The short answer. . . Surprisingly good. Just remember to shake well and enjoy cold for the best taste experience. This is how mine went:
- Raspberrymelon: These drinks are seriously acidic – a revelation that I liked as lovers of all sour. I did not notice any salty aftertaste (the type you sometimes get with electrolyte drinks), just the delicious, punchy taste. After tasting for a second time, I can confirm that this was my favorite flavor.
- Water guy: Again, this is not your typical fruit-gathering drink. This special taste reminded me exactly of a watermelon ring pop-candy-like, but the border sour in the best way. I will say that there was no huge difference between this drink and raspberry, although this may have been somewhat less acidic. Still, I don’t complain.
- Peach: Probably the most refreshing of the three flavors, I would say that this was also the cutest. It is peach and quite soft, but the taste is definitely still there. I almost wish it was carbonated as an orange soda. . . But it’s just me. All in all, all these drinks get a huge thumbs up from me (which is high praise, which comes from an Unwell Girlie himself).
