Mariah Carey Graced MTV VMAS Stage On Sunday to accept the Vanue Vanguard Award from Ariana Grande, raise a speech and hold a career -exciting performance of songs including “Honey”, “We Conting Together” and “Fantasy (Remix).”
Grande introduced Carey’s performance and described her many talents and the impact she has left on music. “As a singer there is only one queen and it is Mariah,” said Grande. “She knows no bounds with her iconic five-Octava range and has left an irrevocable impact on music history with her tone, technology and sound. Her music videos have become the pop game book, which gives us everything from alter ego to male features to hundreds of iconic appearance. Mariah Carey is a simple talent and artist. ”
Carey then took the stage to perform songs from her extensive catalog and visited the treatments and appearance from her music videos. She started in the bedroom with her sloppy new single “Sugar Sweet”, dressed in pajamas and flanked by two backup dancers. She kicked the mood with her iconic “Fantasy” remix before entering a mashup of “Honey” and “Heartbreaker” – that is, before her alter ego Bianca showed up and Carey cut her down to size. Then came “obsessed”, “It’s so” and “We Cnow Together”, which ended the show.
Grande then presented her with the award and led to Carey’s speech. “This moment is very heavy,” she said. “I can’t believe that I get my first VMA tonight. I just have one question: What in Sam Hill did you wait for? I am kidding, I love you MTV, this is amazing.”

Earlier in the evening, Carey took home the VMA award for “Type Dangerous”, which won for Best R&B. The timing of the video Vanguard Award could not be better for Carey, who is currently ready to release its new album “Here for it all” on September 26. So far, she released a pair of singles – “Type Dangerous” and “Sugar Sweet” with Kehlani and Shenenseea – and revealed the track list for the album, and looked further features from Anderson .paak and The Clark Sisters. Songs planned for the set include “Confetti Champagne”, “In Your Feeling” and “MI”, which opens the disc.
“Type Dangerous” initially lost in early June and were co -written and co -produced by .pak, which is rumored to serve as a manager in the project. It has been seven years since Carey lost 2018’s “Warning”, which contained an assortment of collaborators including Mustard, Skrillex, No ID and Timbaland.
Carey has then signed with Gamma, the independent label that was launched in 2023 by music leader Larry Jackson. Forbes reported that La Reid will produce “here for everything” under its new company Mega.
“It is a gambling moment because it is one of our main stars that has made a decision to merge with an independent, independent company that is not associated with any of the major labels,” Reid said. “It’s a gaming exchange for both gamma and Mariah.”
