American Film Institute Silver Theater Theater and Culture Center announced the entire range of films at AFI Latin American Film Festival on Tuesday. This slate includes ”The secret agent“That opens the festival’s 36th year.
Even at the festival will be ”Spider woman“Bill Condon’s film that switches between a hard political reality and a technicolor-inspired fantasy musical. Jennifer Lopez stars in the film with Diego Luna and Tonatiuh.” Kiss of the Spider Woman “, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January, will be a center choice at the festival.
Joining the “Kiss of the Spider Woman” as a center movie is “A Loose End”, the new movie by Daniel Hendler. This will be the US premiere of “A Loose End”, a film about an Argentine police officer seeking Safe Harbor from his former countrymen in Uruguay. “A Loose End” will be screen at the Venice International Film Festival in September before coming to AFI Laff.
A total of 42 films from 20 countries were announced as part of the range. 11 of these films will have their American and North American premieres at the festival.
AFI Laff will screen “The Secret Agent” to open the festival. After his Cannes premiere, the film (written and directed by Kleber Mendonça Filho) has already received a wide praise, with star Wagner Moura who won the festival’s best actor. On Cannes, “The Secret Agent” also picked Best Director, AFCAE ART HOUSE CINEMA AWARD AND FPRIPERCI (or International Federation of Film Critics). “Belén”, directed by Dolores Fonzi, will be the closing choice.
The 36th edition of AFI Laff will be run from September 18 to October 9 at AFI Silver Theater and Culture Center in Silver Spring, MD. A complete list of choices for the Latin American film festival can be seen below.
