You could not find a strong illustration of Hollywood’s changing seasons than will happen next Wednesday, August 27.
At 19.00 Central European Time in Venice, Italy, a display of Paolo Sorrentino’s “La Grazia” will start on 2025 Venice International Film Festival, with the subsequent two weeks that provide three festivals and the premieres for at least a dozen likely challengers for Academy Awards.
And the same day back in the United States, the final vote for 2024-2025 Primetime Emmy Awards will end, which means that for this year’s Emmy season it will be over the bill and the envelope opening.
Wednesday will be the Final Moment of Truth for an Array of Television Programs, Including “Adolescence,” “Hacks,” The Penguin, “” The Pitt, “” Severance “and” The Studio, “and the Introduction for Just As Many Movies, AMong Them” Bugs, AMong Them “Bugon, AMong Them” Bugonia, AMong Them “Bugs. In comedy, both favorites inside look at showbiz: Apple’s beginner series “The studio” on the one hand, HBO’s fourth year defendant master “Hacks” on the other. Three comedies have won during the first year in the last decade (“The Fantastic Mrs Maisel”, “The Bear” and “Ted Lasso”), and “The Studio” seems to have an advantage – except that “hacks” was the mound last year, before the upset “Björnen” in the last award of primetimonin.
In drama, HBO’s “The Pitt” will try to join “The Handmaid’s Tale” and last year’s “Shōgun” as the only first year show that won the Top Award, but the second season of Apple’s “Severance” has received 27 nominations to only 13 for its main rival. In many ways, “The Pitt” real momentum derived from its release January to April and its latest dominance at the TCA Award, although “Severance” has a formidable statistics to its advantage: During this century, no drama or comedy series that received more than 25 nominations lost in the top category.
Oscars
If we choose winners at Emmys, we are at the opposite end of the price spectrum at Oscars, where the big question is which films will be true challengers. Of the films that have already been released, Ryan Coogler’s “sinner” is the best option for a best image nomination, although some also hope for “F1” as well.
But the next three weeks will see a potential avalanche of new opportunities.
