The mysterious look from flamingo wins


Diego Céspedes “The Flamingo’s Mysterious Look” has been named the best film in the UN some respect the section Cannes Film Festivalannounced the UCR jury on Friday.

The film follows an 11-year-old girl who grew up in the early 1980s in a queer family in a small Chilean mining town, where the suspicion grows over a mysterious disease that is rumored to be spread by a look between gay men.

Simón Mesa Sotos “A Poet” won the jury award, second place.

The Direcing Award went to Tarzan and Arab Nasser for “Once Upon a Time in Gaza”, while Cléo Diara and Frank Dillane won the performance prices for “In Bara rest in the storm” and “Urchin” respectively. Author-director Harry Lighton won the script for “Pillion.”

The UN some considerations focus on films from younger directors and often spotlights experimental work. This year, UCR was also the section of Cannes that contained the well -received director’s debut from three actors: Kristen Stewart’s “The Chronology of Water”, Scarlett Johansson’s “Eleanor The Great” and Harris Dickinson’s “Urchin.”

The awards were awarded by a jury under the direction of the British author director Molly Manning Walker. The panel also included director Louise Courvoisier, Film Festival Director Vanja Kaludjercic, author-director Roberto Minervini and actor Nahuel Perez Biscayart. Courvoisier and Minervini were the winners of the UCR competition last year, while Walker won the Top Award two years ago.

In other Cannes awards, Hasan Hadis won “The President’s Cake” the second annual People’s Choice Award in Directors Fortnight Sidebar, and Ratchapoom Boonbunchachokes “A Eneution Ghost” won the jury award in criticism week.

Elsewhere, Michel van der AA’s “From Dust” won the top prize in the Cannes Supporting competition.

Panda, an Icelandic sheep dog who showed up in the movie “The Love That Rests”, won the heavy-in-Kind palm dog for the festival’s best dog performance.

The most important Cannes prices, including Palme d’Or, will be awarded at a ceremony on Saturday night.
